The purpose of this website is to inform and hopefully protect the public from the bad business practices of Invista Stainmaster Carept. I will chronicle my experience with the hopes that other consumers will choose another carpet company that actually stands behind their product and honors thier published guarantees.
I purchase Stanmaster Carpet from Lowes of Hendersonville, TN in November 2012. It was installed shortly before Thanksgiving. I was enticed into upgrading from the standard inexpensive in-stock carpet based on their warranty. Unfortunately Invista Carpet does not stand behind their product or guarantees.
The very next day after installation I notice a discoloration on the carpet. I immediately notified Lowes. A couple days later I notice other areas of discoloration appearing. Stainmaster stated that the mill that produced the carpet fiber was responsible for this and an inspector was sent to my home. The inspector determined that a bleaching agent was used. I assured Invista and Lowes that I had not used a bleaching agent on the carept.
For comparison this is what bleach looks like on the carpet.
Not honoring their guarantee......
The guarantee as displayed on the lowes website states under their SATISFACTION REPLACEMENT "IF AT ANY TIME DURING THE 90 DAY SATISFUATION REPLACEMENT TERM YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR NEW CARPET - FOR ANY REASON (OTHER THAN EXPRESSLY NOTED BELOW), LOWES WILL COORDINATE REPLACMENT WITH ANOTHER STYLE OR COLOR OF CARPET OF COMPARABLE COST....." THE EXCPATION STATES "SATISFACTION WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO CONDITIONS COVERED BY ANY WARANTY."
I spoke with the representative at Invista Stainmaster Carpet on multiple occasions. I told them that since the first inspection there have developed strings, or unraveling of the carpet.
After the second inspector came out.. I was informed by the represntative at Stainmaster .. that these are "pulls" and are normal and not covered by the warranty... So here I am Extremely unsatisfied with problems that Stainmaster will not cover by their warranty and also will not cover under their 90 day satisfaction guarantee.....I have spent over $2000 on carpet in the den and a bedroom ..I chose this carpet based on the recomendation of the salesperson at Lowes and their Unconditional 90 day guarantee.... Believe me.. moving all the furnitrue to change carpet is the LAST thing I want to do... I am so frustrated and extremly disgusted with Invista Carpets failure to honor their guarantees.
I had contacted an attorney to start a class action suite against stainmaster, but Lowes has stated they will replace the carpet.. But this is still BAD BUSINESS. I strongly discourage purchasing carpet manufactured by this company.
Time frame... Carpet purchased November 2012.. Today March 5, 2013. Discussion ongoing with Lowes and Stainmaster stince the day after installation...
P.S. Stainmaster refuses to respond in wrighting to the fact that they will not honor either a warranty claim or a "satisfaction replacement" claim.
